Dobra Tea
Dobra Tea has three Bohemian-style teahouses in Asheville. We are fortunate to have one on Haywood Road serving responsibly sourced and authentically prepared global teas along with savory vegetarian & vegan fare and gluten-free sweet treats.
Step into Dobra Tea and you are immediately in a space that allows you to pause, take a breath, and spend some time not participating in the hectic pace our lives take most of the time. They offer a wide selection of superb teas and take the time to prepare and serve them in the manner they, and you, deserve. Their teas are good, and we mean really good. They are sourcing them carefully and have deep knowledge about each variety and the ideal way to serve them.
It is a bit magical what a cup or pot of finely prepared tea can do for your mood. Of course, there are times when you simply need to get something to go (usually a bubble tea or iced tea on a hot day for us), but we highly recommend setting aside time to sip your tea in the teahouse and really savor the flavors. You’ll leave in a much better headspace.
Dobra Tea has a nourishing menu of savory dishes, soups, salads, sandwiches, and toasts that are available until 3pm daily. Their sweets case, all gluten-free, is available all open hours. We are huge fans of their food, and are grateful for the vegan and gluten-fee focus on their menu. We recommend The Westside Bowl, Ayurvedic Kitchari, Vegan Cheese Plate, Miso Bowl, Thai Peanut Noodle Salad, and swear by the Immunity Sipping Broth whenever we are feeling even slightly edging towards getting a cold.
Another magical part of Dobra Tea is the seating options. They have standard tables and a long counter along the window in the front section of the space. In the middle area they have two spaces that feature more traditional teahouse seating with floor cushions and round tables. Don’t worry if you are not as flexible as you’d like and sitting cross-legged under a short table is just a bit too much. They have a set of tables that have a space for legs and feet under so you sit upright, but feel engaged with the space as if you could still fold those legs under. Removing your shoes before entering these spaces is customary.
They also have an outdoor space if you exit out the back and go down the stairs to the back courtyard. This is one of those hidden spaces along Haywood Road that many people don’t even know exist. This space was put in place during the Pandemic and we utilized it a lot during that time.
We’d be remiss if we didn’t note that Dobra Tea has extensive retail teas and pots. They have loose leaf teas, bagged teas, special blends, and limited runs from all corners of the world. It truly is a tea lovers paradise.
