Feeling a little antsy? Need some sunshine? Missing goodies from your favorite Haywood haunts? Many businesses are offering curbside pickup! We’ve reviewed the On Haywood Road Directory, and culled a few that might have escaped your notice.

Cleaning Frenzies…

If that cleaning routine is starting to wear a little thin, did you know that our local Saniway vacuum dealer also offers air purifying Maison Berger scents, luxurious lambswool dusters, and Bee’s Wax furniture polish in addition to vacuum cleaners? Order online and pick up curbside! For assistance you can also call (828) 254-0734.

Plant Starts!

After struggling trying to find seeds online (overpriced, paired with massive delivery fees–or anticipating 20 lavender seeds for two weeks and receiving 15!) that may not even germinate, we were excited to find For Villagers is offering online ordering for all their apothecary, garden and home goodies…and especially plant starts, for pick ups on Saturdays from 12-3. We found kale, lettuce, onions and even blueberry bushes! They even take PayPal.

Another great option for plants is the upcoming Spring/Summer Plant Sale at Burton Street Community Peace Gardens. Starting April 25 they are hosting their warm-season plant sale via an honor payment system. Expect 20+ varieties of tomatoes, 20+ varieties of peppers, 3 varieties of eggplant, many medicinal & culinary herbs, lots of flowers (some perennial), and a variety of cucumbers, melons, squash, etc. See the Facebook event page for payment and safe shopping details.

Keep the Kiddos Busy!

Being cooped up is hard on the kids, too. Special celebrations or a gift for just because can go a long way to easing frustration and anxiety. Sparky’s Toys & Gifts can be shopped online and are offering curbside pickup on some days–follow their Facebook page. They wrap gifts and we spied the ultimate calming sensory fidget toy, Karmagami, while poking around! Who knows what novelty you’ll find, and they welcome calls (828-505-2711) with questions about anything you might find on their website.

Kicking Back

Hungry to get your hands on a real book but the library is closed? Had your fill of digital and hankering to go analog? Bagatelle Books is offering curbside pickups for local customers–and pleased to offer real live human recommendations. Just call 828.774.5585!

Morgan’s Comics, the first woman-owned comic store in NC, is going super serious in their distancing contactless shopping – be sure to check out their latest Facebook post on how they handle their curbside pickup with the mail slot for whatever you are getting. They are also doing lots of live posts (daily?) celebrating their nerd sanctuary and engaging the community! Magic cards, comics and much more are available. Just call them at 828.505.4003 or message them on Facebook with any questions.

Orbit DVD installed a spiffy shield for their doorway so you can pick up purchased movies, video games and systems, playing cards, coloring books, and collectables while staying safe.

Shop on their website or Facebook page. Pick up 1-5pm. Rentals offered on select days, see their website.

Get AMPed
