Isis Restaurant and Music Hall Named Best Venue by International Bluegrass Music Association

ISIS-sign-frontOn September 30, 2015 the Isis Restaurant and Music Hall was awarded the International Bluegrass Music Association’s Momentum Award for Best Festival, Event or Venue. The award was presented to Isis owners Lillianna and Scott Woody at the IBMA luncheon and ceremony in Raleigh.

“We’re very humbled by this.” Lillianna Woody said. “When they called out our name, we were shocked. It makes us very proud of what we have accomplished as a family and with our staff.”

The Isis opened at 743 Haywood Road in October, 2012 and quickly gained acclaim from both audiences and performers for exceptional sounding performances. The music hall is host to intimate seated shows of 170 people or standing shows for a crowd of 480.

ISIS-IBMA-Award2015From its start, the venue has been a home for bluegrass, says Woody. The music hall has seen performances by many popular local musicians as well as internationally famous acts like Del McCoury, Sam Bush, David Grisman and the Lonesome River Band. The Isis also hosts a regular bluegrass session and jam every Tuesday.

The IBMA award is especially notable because winners are determined by a vote of agents, performers, publicists and others who represent the bluegrass music industry. In an international bluegrass community that boasts years of heritage, the Momentum awards highlight achievements by those who are newer to the scene but that continue to advance the tradition of the art.

The Isis Restaurant and Music Hall hosts bluegrass, acoustic, jazz, blues, soul, rock and a wide range of other musical genres. See more at
